Tools and Materials Needed:
- Replacement water seal (ensure it matches your shower door’s specifications)
- Measuring tape
- Utility knife or scissors
- Cleaning supplies (mild detergent, sponge, cloth)
Steps to Replace the Plastic Water Seal
1. Measure the Existing Seal
- Measure the length of the existing seal to ensure you get a replacement that fits properly.
2. Remove the Old Seal
- Open the shower door to provide easy access.
- Firmly grip the old seal and gently pull it off the bottom edge of the glass. These seals usually snap on and off, so it should come off without much resistance.
3. Clean the Area
- Once the old seal is removed, clean the bottom edge of the glass door thoroughly to remove any residue, dirt, or mildew. Use a mild detergent and a sponge or cloth.
- Dry the area completely with a clean cloth.
4. Cut the New Seal to Size:
- Measure the new seal against the door and cut it to the appropriate length using a utility knife or scissors.
5. Install the New Seal
- Align the new seal with the bottom edge of the glass door.
- Snap the new seal onto the door by pressing it firmly into place. Start at one end and work your way to the other, ensuring the seal fits snugly along the entire length of the door.
